Changing the color scheme for VIM in Ubuntu is pretty easy. First, you can head over to Vivify and find a theme.
Once you have found a theme, download the file, themename.vim and place this file in ~/.vim/colors
Now modify ~/.vimrc by adding a line colorscheme themename.
